THE 1820 BRITISH SETTLERS

The 1820 British Settlers (200 year anniversary of the arrival of the British settlers in South Africa) This is a format based on one of the first ever reality shows to hit television around the world (in 1984).

In 1820, six-thousand British families were sent to South Africa in search of a better life.

They arrived in the Eastern Cape’s Algoa Bay with nothing – each family was granted an ox-wagon with a head of oxen and told to head north and settle the land. This is an amazing story of courage and survival – one which we’ll re-enact with a group of celebrities or regular people who apply to take on the ultimate challenge!
