Bear Grylls Launches Survival Race and Family Festival

Bear Grylls brings his renowned spirit of endeavour, fitness and adventure to the Obstacle Course Race (OCR) market, with the launch of the inaugural Bear Grylls Survival Race (BG Survival Race), featuring the biggest kids race ever globally.

The outdoor festival takes place on the 3rd & 4th October 2015, in Trent Park, North London.

Bear himself will open the race weekend on Saturday 3rd and participants will experience a range of ultra-dynamic Bear-Grylls inspired obstacles to reach the finish lines of the 5km, 10km and 30km courses. The BG Survival Race weekend will host Cubs Races for children manned by our Charity Partner The Scouts Association inspiring young ones to enjoy the outdoors.

Bear Grylls explains the aim of this race: “This is about empowering people to test and extend their adventure fitness, using the type of obstacles that I have often encountered in the wild.
We all have an edge, and this race is designed to push those physical and mental limits, to there & beyond.”

The event is powered by Land Rover, AQUAÇAI & Triumph Motorcycles with support from The Royal Marine Reservists and Scouts Association. More than just a race event, the weekend will have an eclectic live music element featuring the headliner, Triple Platinum Selling Artist Newton Faulkner. Bear Grylls & Newton Faulkner are both passionate about Rhino Conservation and are dedicating £5 of Festival ticket sales from September 10th to the cause. Bear will fire the start gun on all dedicated charity heats. There are still charity places available to run alongside Team ITV in the Bear Grylls Race For Rhino Survival. The Rhino Alliance by Tusk, Helping Rhinos, Rooting for Rhino and Wilderness Foundation – working together to achieve common goals. Naturally charity is at the heart of the event and we are delighted to be partnered with The Rhino Alliance, The Scouts Association & Stand Up To Cancer as well as working with over 300 charities
across the UK.

The BG Festival will host 100 world class exhibitors showcasing their products, feature gourmet popup food stalls & Licenced Bars and provide exciting activities the whole family will love. The Festival includes bungee jumps, waterzorbs, segway, exotic animals, bushcraft demonstrations, toddler bicycle tracks, and more. Timed and untimed heats will see family/leisure runners, charity participants and professional athletes alike putting their adventure-fitness levels to the ultimate test. The race weekend culminates in the signature event: the Ultimate Survivor Race – a 30km course ups the ante and will take racers out of their comfort zones, both mentally and physically. There are cash prizes and a Triumph Tiger Motorcycle for the Ultimate Survivor who comes in at first place.

The planned global expansion of the BG Survival Race series will feature a range of challenging survival scenarios including urban, jungle, mountain, desert and amphibious; and these are to be set in some of the world’s most extreme and challenging terrains.
